SIMPLY ROMANCE REVIEWS - 4 STAR REVIEW!

The one thing Susie Levine has confidence in is her painting; she has never felt confident in her appearance, frequently comparing herself to her friends and family and finding herself lacking. In Desperately Seeking Susie, Patrice Wilton let's the reader see from the beginning that Susie is the one searching, for herself. It is the reader's luck to join Susie on her search, observing all her steps and missteps along the way.

While trying to find out who she is, Susie also meets the man of her dreams; does he feel the same, and how Susie validates her feelings for him lead to many interesting situations. Ms. Wilton is a very descriptive writer; she does not shy away from the passion between her main characters, reminding us often that Desperately Seeking Susie is a romance, by including combustible, steamy love scenes between the main characters Susie and Brett. The reader is fortunate in being able to experience a variety of eccentric personalities in the secondary characters as well, just one more element designed to keep us entertained for hours. And luckily for us, this is an entertaining book to read: I definitely recommend picking up a copy and finding that out for yourself!

Outwardly, Susie Levine appears to have it all. She is a beautiful perfect size two living the high life in Miami Beach with wonderful friends, her artwork on display, and numerous men attracted to her vibrant personality. Inwardly, she has deep emotional issues due to a birth defect perfectly hidden by her father, a skilled plastic surgeon. Susie bounces from job to job, never able to live up to the high expectations of her family, but finds fulfillment when she volunteers at a homeless shelter pouring her heart and soul into helping the underdog. One night during an electrical storm, a lightening bolt comes down toward her and the sky lights up like the 4th of July surrounding her with vibrant color. She senses a light airy sensation on her skin. Touched by magic, Susie suddenly sees the world around her in a different and more colorful light. She also soon discovers she can see into the future. As a planned trip to Italy to study painting begins to take shape, a surprise romance with her childhood crush comes crashing down. Brett is a firefighter horrifically burned in an explosion. He breaks off their relationship when she encourages plastic surgery, preferring to wear his facial scars as a badge of honor. He does not want to become another one of her pet projects.Author Patrice Wilton has written a fast-paced fun romp with laugh aloud moments. The captivating characters come alive on the pages of this engaging story. Desperately Seeking Susie is a delight to read and leaves us longing for more of this enchanting woman as she continues her journey through life.

NIGHT OWL ROMANCE - 5 STAR REVIEW!

Replacing Barnie, written as a prequel to Patrice Wilton’s Desperately Seeking Susie, brings all the gals together in an honest portrayal of attraction, distrust and love. Lydia O’Reilly was a highly sought after divorce lawyer working hard for a shot at partnership in a prestigious law firm top heavy with men. A strong advocate for women in the throes of divorce, Lydia has worked hard to earn her tough-as-nails reputation.

Desperate to replace Barnie, she ended up with the last thing she needed, a one-night stand. Hadn’t she had enough bad experiences with men? Apparently not. Lydia went ballistic when she found Jed’s wedding ring the next morning. One more cad to add to her growing list. Ms. Wilton once again brings together her delightful cast of characters from The Candy Bar, women with real life strengths and flaws. There’s never a dull moment around these gals as their true to life escapades sometimes bring to mind stories of our own.

Deftly written, Replacing Barnie provides a fascinating romantic romp, well paced and poignant, perfect for a summer read. With the regulars hanging out at the bar, we look forward to the possibility of reading more of her delightful stories about these pals who have captured our heart.
